Women today are not only capable as their male counterpart in terms of intellectual and management but are also nation builders. Today women can be seen leading revered institutions, corporations and even as political head of a sovereign nation, but the path for women to reach this position has not been one without struggle and resistance from their male counter parts. However, women have persevered and proved that they are equally capable if not better.
Chhukha Dzongkhag Administration incorporates and stands firm in its belief in protecting and promoting women’s rights in the Dzongkhag. The Administration also focuses on the importance of women’s participation in decision making and administration.
The International Women’s Day, 2019 with the theme “Think Equal, Build Smart, Innovate for Change” was celebrated with the people of Logchhina Gewog. The important roles played by our women in the society and prevalence of Domestic Violence was highlighted by Madam Dechen Om and Madam Sonam Chuki of RENEW Phuntsholing (CBSS-MSTF). Dzongkhag Legal Officer (GCFP-NCWC Focal Point) also highlighted the issues along with legal implications, if such acts were to be committed and also legal recourse available to the victim in such incidents. Dzongkhag Health Officer (MSTF Focal Point) also deliberated on the various health issues related to women, the measures that can be taken to curb such issues and highlighted the importance of visiting nearest health facilities with regard to women’s health.
