In the face of rapidly changing livestock disease scenarios, upgrading infrastructure and scaling services to modern standards is not just timely, it’s essential. As new epidemics continue to emerge, the Dzongkhag Livestock Sector (DLS) in Chhukha has taken a proactive step by initiating a major upgrade of the Dzongkhag Veterinary Hospital (DVH) at Tshimasham. This move is aimed at enhancing the hospital’s capacity to provide fast, reliable, and efficient veterinary services, making it a focal point for immediate and effective livestock health interventions in the Dzongkhag.
To cope with the growing complexities in animal health, the DVH is now being equipped with advanced tools and technologies that align with contemporary veterinary service standards. Through the support of the Dzongkhag Annual Grant, a high-standard mounted Operation Theatre Lighting system has been procured and installed. This modern lighting system significantly improves visibility and precision during surgical procedures, enhancing the overall quality and safety of veterinary treatment.
The hospital has also introduced a modern ultrasonic dental scaler machine, offering pet owners and farmers in the locality a much-needed facility to maintain oral hygiene and well-being of their animals. These services may be rare to find in most DVHs across the country, make Tshimasham DVH uniquely positioned, perhaps second only to the National-level Veterinary Hospital in terms of such advanced infrastructure.
These upgrades reflect the sector’s commitment to staying ahead of the curve in the face of evolving livestock diseases. The ongoing investments in tools, facilities, and service delivery mechanisms are part of a broader effort to adapt to change while continuing to provide safe, hygienic, and effective care for animals. Ultimately, these advancements contribute to building a more resilient and productive livestock farming enterprise across Chhukha Dzongkhag.
